Leahbeth started sketching and painting with her father, who is also an artist, and having this early art education led her to seek a Certificate of Fine Arts from St. Lawrence College, graduating in 2015. While there she enjoyed studying painting with Andrea Mossop and Diane Sheridan. Leahbeth has shown her work with the St. Lawrence Fine Arts Alumni and in juried shows at the Marianne Van Silfhout Gallery. She began showing her art with the North Grenville Art Guild in 2018.
Leahbeth enjoys the challenge of sharing ‘Emotion’ with the viewer, such as peace, joy, or the thrill you might feel when viewing a sunset or a beautiful tree. She loves to experiment with palette knives and brushes to obtain the exuberant effect of thick paint and the calming effect of smooth brush strokes. Leahbeth hopes that the emotions that inspire her to paint will also be shared with the viewer.
Her favourite painters include European Artists: Vincent Van Gogh and Auguste Renoir; and Canadian Artists: Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, Emily Carr, Arthur Shilling and Alex Janvier.
